Understanding AdvantageGuard

Unexpected medical expenses can place a serious strain on your finances, even if you have Medicare or other health coverage. That’s where AdvantageGuard® comes in—a supplemental hospital indemnity plan that provides fixed cash benefits for hospital stays and other eligible services. Designed to help reduce the financial burden of out-of-pocket costs, AdvantageGuard allows you to focus on healing instead of worrying about your wallet. If you’re seeking peace of mind and extra protection against the unexpected, AdvantageGuard may be the right fit for you.

What is AdvantageGuard?

AdvantageGuard is a hospital indemnity insurance policy that offers fixed benefit payments for qualifying inpatient hospital stays, mental health admissions, and hospital observation periods. These benefits are paid directly to you, regardless of the actual cost of your care, and can be used however you choose. Underwritten by Golden Rule Insurance Company and branded by UnitedHealthcare, AdvantageGuard is available in most U.S. states for individuals aged 60 to 90. Optional benefit riders are also available in many states to add coverage for services such as cancer treatment, ambulance trips, outpatient surgery, emergency room visits, and more.

Why should I consider an AdvantageGuard plan?

Even with Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, many people face significant out-of-pocket expenses during a hospital stay. AdvantageGuard is designed to supplement your existing insurance by helping cover those gaps. Whether it’s copays, deductibles, or incidental costs, the cash benefits provided by AdvantageGuard can be used however you need—giving you the flexibility to manage expenses during recovery. The plan is especially beneficial for seniors or anyone looking for customizable coverage options that support their unique health and budget needs.

What do I need to know about enrolling in AdvantageGuard?

AdvantageGuard is available to individuals between the ages of 60 and 90 and can be renewed for life as stated in the policy. There is no waiting period for standard benefits, and most optional riders also take effect immediately (with a 30-day waiting period applying to a few, like cancer or outpatient prescription drug coverage, in most states). While AdvantageGuard is not a Medicare supplement policy, it works alongside your existing coverage to provide added protection.
